Winter Solstice, Mercury Retrograde, and Astrology Forecast December 18-24

This week we experience changing planetary winds:   Mercury Retrograde, Winter Solstice, 4th quarter Moon, and Mars in Pisces.

Inward and Yinward is the prevailing theme of this week’s turning point energies.

Winter Solstice takes us into the darkest day of the year.  The 4th quarter Moon takes us into the darkest phase of the lunar cycle.  Mars leaving Aquarius for Pisces takes us more inward into deeper consciousness.  Mercury Retrograde turns us more reflective and inner directed.

Mercury goes Retrograde on December 19 at 5:55 AM. It will stay Retrograde until January 8 2017 when it goes back Direct.

The 19th is also the day that the electors cast their votes for President of the USA.

Back on November 7 of 2000 on election day, Mercury was changing direction from Retrograde to Direct.

On the day Mercury changes direction from Direct to Retrograde or from Retrograde to Direct, it can be quite a confusing day.

That day in 2000 media anchors kept going back and forth in announcing victory for Bush, then Gore, then Bush, then Gore, etc.

It was many weeks afterward when Bush was declared President.

So it does seem meaningful that the electors cast their votes for President on the day Mercury changes direction.

This certainly does not mean that the vote will be reversed and the Presidency will be taken away from Trump.

But it could very well mean the day will bring some confusion as to what is happening with the votes.  Already this electoral vote is more controversial then past electoral voting, as some electors have already promised to change their vote or to abstain from voting.

And the questioning of the Electoral College being used instead of popular vote is already happening.  So you can see Mercury doing its job as we get closer and closer to the day it goes retrograde.

The Mercury Retrograde time period shows us a shift in our mental perceptions and a questioning of previous mind frames, paradigms, decisions, and beliefs.

Mercury Retrograde also can kind of rewind the clock of our lives, bringing back old memories through dreams, daytime thoughts, and from people actually showing up again in our lives.  This rewind can help us to better put our current lives in perspective, and provide us with deeper insight into current issues and relationships.

Mercury Retrograde also can bring spaciness, forgetfulness, difficult communication, and challenges with technological communication networks and equipment.

Mercury Retrograde is not usually a good time to make big decisions or to start important new projects.

On January 8, when it goes back Direct, clarity begins to form again.  It is interesting that the results from electoral votes on December 19 will not be reported until January 6, just before Mercury goes back Direct again.

Mercury Retrograde is best experienced from a reflective inner directed mind.   And inner direction this week is not just shown by Mercury but also because the 4th quarter of the current lunar cycle begins on December 2o.

This 4th quarter Moon is in Virgo and suggests we need to  become more discerning and simplified- in contrast to the rising flames of intution from the Sun in Sagittarius.

So there is more inward and yinward energetic movement.  This 4th quarter lunar phase, when lunar light gets darker and darker, ends with the New Moon in Capricorn on December 28/29.

And there is even more turning inward as we experience the darkest time of year just before the Winter Solstice.

The moment we symbolically turn back again to more light every day is on December 21 at 5:44 AM EST.

This lead up to the Winter Solstice and the day of the Solstice is a very solemn time period.

We may experience deep feelings like sadness and grief, yet if totally present internally we may feel the hope that comes back as the light returns on Winter Solstice.

Every day light will get more time until Spring Equinox when light and dark are equal.

Christmas is aligned with the Winter Solstice in that Christ is considered the light of hope for people, especially those who suffer in their darkness of their suffering.

The Sun moves into Capricorn on Winter Solstice and begins a month of feeling responsibility, rules and regulations, desires to build and accomplish, needs to be disciplined and organized.

But more inward movement is suggested with Mars moving into Pisces on December 19.  It will stay in Pisces until January 28 when it goes into fiery Aries.

From December 19 until January  28 Mars will be swimming in watery Pisces.  Neptune, god of the ocean, is the “ruling” planet of Pisces.

Mars is usually a very active planet, self assertive, action oriented, willful, and forceful.

But in Pisces it is more peaceful, inner directed, flowing, passive, and self sacrificing.

It seeks to take it easy, to go with the flow, and explore inner dimensions and spiritual worlds.

It is not a great force for new beginnings or willful forcing of what one desires.

But it is great at diving into psychological insights, and processing deeper emotions and thoughts.

So almost all the planetary aspects this week suggest it is best to slow down, relax, go inward, and feel your feelings.

For many there is more time to do so now, as they have holiday season’s slow down of work from their jobs.

Do your best not to run around and stress, instead remember that deeper values are what the holidays represent.

And though many are feeling really down about the election, Standing Rock, Aleppo, and where our country and world are headed; remember that the Nature of the Universe is bringing us through transformation into a New World and Age.

Though it may seem like darker days for humanity are upon us and will continue for a long time, in actuality beyond the TV screen of our world and outer lives we are awakening and evolving.

More and more people are breaking the chains of societal programming and leaving the herd that is walking off the cliff of an old human paradigm for living on this Earth.

The return of the light on Winter Solstice shows us not the hope of shifting the results of the election, but instead the hope that no matter what the election results show, there is no stopping the train into the Age of Aquarius.

Till next week,

Leo

The Light of Hope and Astrology Forecast December 20-26

Posted in Weekly WorldView and Astrology forecast with tags , , , , , on December 19, 2015 by spiritualtherapy

By Leo Knighton Tallarico

This week we move through the Winter Solstice followed by a Full Moon in Cancer.

The Winter Solstice is on December 21 at 11:41 PM EST.   At that time, like in every other year, the Sun simultaneously goes into Capricorn.

At the Winter Solstice we experience the most dark minutes of a day here in the Northern Hemisphere of planet Earth.

But it is a turning point, because beginning at the Winter Solstice there will be a growing amount of light every day until the Summer Solstice.

The Summer Solstice is exactly the opposite experience, light reaches its zenith, and then afterwards every day will have increasingly dark minutes until Winter Solstice.

So cultures have always seen that at the darkest day of the year, hope comes alive knowing the Spring Equinox is only a few months away.

Spring Equinox is when light catches up to dark in equality, but afterwards light is more supreme every day until Summer Solstice.

And stories of the birth of Christ are part of this time of hope for a better future.

Christ’s supposed birth date on December 25 is celebrated only a few days after the Solstice, but it is doubtful he was born then.  March is a more likely time for his birth.

But Christianity used the general time period of nature and pagan ritual of Winter Solstice to celebrate the return of light at the Christmas holiday.

Regardless of what you believe in this regard, the Winter Solstice is a great time to meditate or be a part of ceremony and ritual.

Nature is letting us know that we are entering Winter, with its colder and darker time period- yet we know the hope of spring is “in the air”.

Many people do get depressed on the days leading up to the Solstice  and sometimes even afterwards. The Holidays can be difficult for some.

But if you can let your self naturally feel the “down” energy leading up to the Solstice, you can then get connected to the shift to the beginnings of more light and “up” energy at the time of the Winter Solstice.

Remember that planetary movements and cycles are Nature speaking to our souls.  If we stay in tune with Nature we lead a more “organic” life.

Ironically, however, the Winter Solstice is the beginning of a month that has the Sun in Capricorn.

Capricorn does not honor nature so much,  and instead feels that we need boundaries, rules, and often strict guidelines to protect us from nature’s wildness.

Capricorn metaphorically builds dams to protect us from water out of control; builds special structures to protect us from earthquakes or hurricanes; and of course builds us homes to protect us from many of nature’s ways, like wild animals or extreme temperatures.

Capricorn’s “ruling” planet is Saturn.  Saturn is gravity, time, limits, obligations, rules, commandments, and successful achievements.

Arguably, no matter how much natural talent one has, one needs to have discipline, to organize and plan.  This is a Capricorn’s way of harnessing nature so it works for you, not out of control and then against your plans for achievement and success in the world.

To counter this time of Sun in Capricorn, on Christmas Day December 25 at 6:12 AM EST, the Moon will be in Cancer exactly opposite the Sun in Capricorn. That forms a Full Moon, as all full moons have the Sun exactly and directly opposite the Moon.

So now the controls, rules, obligations, discipline and focus on achievement represented by the Sun in Capricorn meets its match with the Moon in Cancer.

The Moon’s “favorite” sign is Cancer, as the Moon’s more gentle rays find comfort in the nurturance of Cancer.

Moon in Cancer represents soul and inner values. Moon in Cancer trusts nature and human feelingss even if those feelings break open into expressions without boundaries and rules.

Capricorn puts up strict boundaries for the sake of answering to the demands of the outer world with its limits and rules.

Cancer is open to anything that is organic and natural and cares more about the “inner child’s” needs than anything else.

It will put up with moods and emotional volatility and change, no matter what as it wants to support and protect the soul from outer demands or frustrations.

So Cancer wants to nurture and protect all that is vulnerable and innocent: children, elderly, disabled, etc.

Capricorn wants to protect also, but it wants to portect  against anything or anyone that would take it off the track of its orientation for achievement and its desire to build, organize and plan.

Capricorn is structure and form, and Cancer is the soul’s energy and feelings.

So at this Full Moon in Capricorn/ Cancer do your best to balance the more allowing and permissive side of you (Cancer) with the more strict and demanding side of yourself (Capricorn).

Too much Capricorn brings us a flat line world of rules and commandments without soul and feeling and empathy.

Too much Cancer is overly protective and pernissive with feelings and moods that are not controlled.

It is a good time at this Full Moon to balance your concentration on personal inner directed family matters (Cancer) with your more professional career and outer directed matters (Capricorn).

Interestingly this year there is Uranus changing directions from Retrograde to Direct on the day of the Full Moon.

This unusual occurrence may promise a more “outside the box” Christmas Day or a time of breaking away from old family patterns. or a feeling of rebellion or wanting to be different.

We are coming to the end of a very powerfully transformational year, in fact two years 2014 and 2015.

When we look back on these two years we will even more clearly see how important they have been.

Globally we have entered a whole new era.   And 2016 and 2017 will give us the fallout from the events of those two years.

America has really changed and transformed. It is adjusting to the new threats and to its growing role as a more equal member of the world community.

It is struggling to come back to its better principles and ideals instead of a higher priority on money and might.

There is a strong tide of change rolling in, and an equally strong energy to try to hold back the tide of that change.

The political arena is where much of this will play out as there is a presidential election late in 2016.

But there are many others now who know that the conventional political route is a dead end for positive change and evolution.

They go through their transformation and evolution in other ways.  Now with social media and internet connecting us to so much beyond the old ways, and with many others wanting to live a more simple and natural life- we have much to hang onto besides the corruption and flat line energies of the political, governmental, global corporate, and militaristic old world.

The next couple of weeks we will present to you a forecast for 2016.

Enjoy the solstice and holiday time this week as best you can.

Till next week,

Leo

2015: Year of Revolutionary and Evolutionary Change and Astrology Forecast December 28- January 3

Posted in Weekly WorldView and Astrology forecast with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on December 27, 2014 by spiritualtherapy

By Leo Knighton Tallarico

2014 is coming to a close this week.  For most it has been a powerful year of change, transformational change into a new chapter of life.

New jobs, homes, relationships have manifested.   A new outlook on life, new spiritual perspectives and practices, awakenings, disillusionment, and breaking out of old programming are other ways change had been activated this past year.

The most important astrological event was the Cardinal Grand Cross last spring and early summer.  It combined with a couple of eclipses and Uranus square Pluto then also.

And in the autumn there were two more eclipses, and Uranus and Pluto were exactly square again.

In the greater world the Cardinal Grand Cross activated several prominent world events including the turmoil in Ukraine; the Ebola scare; the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza; the advancement of ISIS in Iraq and Syria; the killing of unarmed black men in Ferguson, New York and elsewhere; and the serious attempts to resolve issues with Iran.

We let you know last winter that the Cardinal Grand Cross would initiate a most important phase of transformation into an Age of Aquarius.  And combined with the exact Uranus/Pluto square that has been lasting from 2012-1015, we would see our world go through immense change both personally and globally.

We also let you know that the Cardinal Grand Cross was very close to America’s natal Sun in Cancer from its birth chart of July 4, 1776.   That would mean the United States would begin its transformation into a more equal member of the world community, beginning to let go of its Superpower status at the head of a western Empire on Earth.  It means America will change greatly in very fundamental ways.

This change had only just begun at the Cardinal Grand Cross and eclipses in April 2014. We predicted that the world as we know it would be quite altered in the 18 months after the April 2014 aspects.

That takes us to Autumn 2015 and yes America’s economy and standing in the world will change dramatically during the next 10 or 11 months.

The Middle East will continue to be a focal point of change, and it could very well trigger a world war during these next several months.  But also it is possible instead, as we have seen with the negotiations with Iran and the opening of relations with Cuba, changes that are aligned with the Age of Aquarius may require no major conflicts or wars.

In personal lives there will be more movement toward letting go of old programming from society and family that keeps you stuck in old self defeating ways.

There will be more awakening to truths that will set you free of the chains of dysfunctional and toxic beliefs, attitudes and patterns.

You will be assisted by the Universe to leave relationships, homes, and career orientations that are not aligned with your authentic being and your true function in the world community.

Another powerful year of change is ahead.

And the most meaningful time period this year will be late winter and spring.   Uranus will make its last exact square to Pluto on March 16, followed closely by a very strong Spring Equinox Day that will include a Total Solar Eclipse in very late Pisces.

This is symbolic of great clearings and endings on the one hand, and very important fresh new winds of renewal. This will all be followed by another eclipse, a Total Lunar Eclipse in Aries/Libra that connects with the Uranus/Pluto square to form a powerful Cardinal T-Square, almost as important as the Cardinal Grand Cross.

These aspects in late winter and spring of 2015 can be looked at as “Grand Openings” into the full immersion of our human souls into the transition from a Pisces Age to a Age of Aquarius.

World Events that last into the summer of 2015 and beyond will change our world perhaps even more drastically than in 2014.

There will be no more holding onto the shore of the old ways without a great price to pay spiritually, psychologically and perhaps even physically.

The ways you have been changing to make your self healthier spiritually, mentally and physically will require a stronger commitment from you during the late winter and spring.

Sitting on the fence of two worlds will no longer work, as the fence is going to break down.

It will be a wonder-full year of shifting tides in 2015.

This coming week brings the culture’s symbolic date for changing years.

And it could be a very energized New Year’s Eve and Day as the waxing Moon this week lasts all the way to Sunday the 4th at the Full Moon in Cancer, which we will talk more about next week.

In addition to the waxing phase of the lunar cycle playing out at the transition between 2014 and 2015; there will also be a very spirited Mars in Aquarius opposite Jupiter in Leo then.

So the winds of increasing energy will blow in this week and January 1 is the day when Mars makes exact aspect to Jupiter.

Mars in Aquarius brings in  high energies with social consciousness and desires for social connection even if only on social media.   Jupiter in Leo brings inspiration into creative and open-hearted expression.  There is also a greater tendency to self focus with Jupiter in Leo.

Many people could even be rather manic with this aspect, and this may cause leaps into what could bring trouble.  In the greater world this could translate into individuals or groups leaping into dangerous adventures.

Allow yourself to feel joy and positive vibes, but be careful not to leap before you look.

Next week’s Full Moon in Cancer will include both Uranus and especially Pluto in its signature, so this could be a week of change too.

Remember also that we are in Sun in Capricorn time of year, so of course resolutions are in order.  Also Sun in Capricorn means we can make plans to manifest our dreams or ideas now.  That will require, however, concrete plans, organization, discipline, and structured steps to implementing the plan.

Many people demonize Capricorn’s ruling planet, Saturn.  But Saturn represents the gravitational pull to keep free spirits here on Earth to fulfill their purpose in a given lifetime.

So use this Capricorn time of year to take full responsibility for your life and hence out of victim mentality.  That will make Saturn as your servant, not your tormenter any longer.

See you next week,

Leo

Moving Toward the Light and Astrology Forecast December 21-27

Posted in Weekly WorldView and Astrology forecast with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on December 20, 2014 by spiritualtherapy

By Leo Knighton Tallarico

We experience an important turning point at the Winter Solstice on December 21 at 6:03 PM EST.   And that annual turning point toward more light has more importance than usual as there is a New Moon in Capricorn also on the 21st, at 8:36 PM EST.

Adding to the importance of this year’s Winter Solstice day is the fact that the transformational planet of awakening, Uranus, will change directions and go Direct that same day- at 5:45 PM EST.

All of these events happen within three hours of one another.  So it will be an especially good time then to be present, to meditate or at least stay aware of this shift.

Last weekend an exact Uranus/Pluto square was experienced in a very profound and powerful way by many people.

There was much intensity and even turmoil for many then.  Emotions were brought up to the surface and expressed.   Truth was spoken and in some cases there was a real breakdown of old thinking or ways of being.

Then afterwards there were breakthroughs and awakenings for some, and for others a facing of some core truths that were difficult to handle.

Much of the intensity has lifted for many now, and there has been a clearing and a greater acceptance of what is real and true.

Now at the Winter Solstice, which will bring an end to the move toward darker days, we feel the turning toward more hope for the future.

But remember that the Winter Solstice brings the Sun into Capricorn, and not long after that the Moon joins the Sun in Capricorn to create a New Moon.

So there are new beginnings and movement forward, but Capricorn is not about immediate gratification or fast movement, and is instead about the long haul, discipline, planning, and a slow building toward one’s goals.

It is true that Uranus, which will also be prominent on the Winter Solstice, is more lightning like energetically, and hence brings a feeling that one has broken some chains, woken up, and is liberated.

Even if you are feeling that, keep aware that even though Uranus is bringing you a quick inspiration or idea or sense of direction, there will be much work to go through and the results are unknown.

It will be a very good time around the Winter Solstice to make intentions and yes even resolutions, but making things stick and truly manifest will take effort and commitment to the process.

These are very transformational times and often now your heart and soul may not agree with what you think is the correct or safest thing to do.

That issue will need to be worked out through time.  It is true that during times of great change as we are experiencing now (and will continue to experience for quite awhile longer) that one’s heart and soul need to lead the way. That is because our heart and soul are connected to the energies that are moving through our world and through us.

But we each need to work on the apparent contradiction between what the heart and soul feel they are driven toward and what will apparently keep our lives feeling safe and secure.

Perhaps you will need to make the drastic change your heart is opening up to, but it is also possible your heart has merely let you know you that you have been asleep and detached from your passions.

You may still be able to bring some heart back into your current situation, or at least find some balance between the seeming opposites.

The energies in Capricorn tell us we will likely need to trust time to bring us the answers at the right time.

Our human family is truly taking a collective ride into new territory together.   Though many will instead say that there is never anything new under the Sun, that history always repeats itself, and that “Groundhog Day” repeat performances is all we can ever expect; they are dead wrong as there is a New Age we are rapidly moving toward.

And the changes will accelerate, especially as we move through late Winter and Spring 2015.

Uranus will square Pluto one more time, on March 16 2015.  A few days later, on the day of Spring Equinox March 20, there will be the first of two eclipses in a row.

Not only will be that be a very powerful and meaningful day, but it will also give a signature of deep transformational change for Spring Season 2015.

In April 2014 there was a Cardinal Grand Cross with Uranus and Pluto mixed within. There were also two eclipses that month.

And the Grand Cross triggered the USA Natal Chart from July 4 1776, as it was at the same exact Cardinal degree as the USA Sun placement that day- 13+ degrees of Cancer.

So there is growingly clearer view of the great changes the USA is going through in order for it to be aligned with the energies and realities of the Age of Aquarius.

Aquarius is about equality and Diversity within Unity.  There can be no Empires or Superpowers in an Age of Aquarius.

There is breaking down of the notion of superiority and privilege, and a greater sense that “we are all in this together”.

Much worldwide change will be triggered by events in the Middle East, and the economy is destined to be drastically changed as well.

With Cuba now being brought into more normal relations with the USA and west, with Iran being brought more into normality with the rest of the world, with Palestine being more and more accepted as its own state, there is much positive movement toward an Age Of Aquarius, equality, and Diversity in Unity.

There is also much awakening toward the need for even greater civil rights and fairness for African Americans, Hispanics and the Gay/Lesbian community. And of course there is a great need to understand the painful plight of so many women around the world.  Ane men are also caught in the chains of conditioning from the old paradigm, dying in wars that are most often fought for monied interests and the privileged.

But there are also many powerful forces that oppose such attempts at reconciliation, justice, and unity. And there is a real culture war developing between many in the Muslim world and the Judeo-Christian world.   And there are many who want the old world to stay at it is, or even to go back to an earlier time.

So during these times of transition, most especially when powerful planetary movements are erupting like Uranus Square Pluto, there will be much light coming through to awaken people to new consciousness and ways of being with one another on Planet Earth.

But there will also be much resistance to the new energies and new world.

That is like worlds colliding, bringing with it big breakdowns and huge breakthroughs.

And in each of our individual lives, we are experiencing similar breakdowns and breakthroughs.

If you truly are staying present and aware, open in your heart and mind, trusting the Universe and your soul’s journey, you will take the ride to your best and authentic self, to more authentic relationships too.

You will also see more synchronicities, signs from the Universe, and magic.

But you may also experience some pain as you resist the new energies, or as you watch old chapters and people or pets from those old chapters die or leave. You may feel anger, grief, being alone, confusion, and disorientation.  But you will be alive and evolving, and being part of a larger community of souls who are transforming just like you.

We are co-creating a new world together and bringing all the opposites together with truth as our guide.

Turn toward the light now as we move through a most important Winter Solstice this year. There is hope if you open your heart to receive it.

See you next week,

Leo
