Venus Retrograde in Scorpio and Astrology Forecast for Sept. 26- October 9

Last week’s transition from summer to autumn was more energized than most such seasonal passages, because of the presence of an Aries Full Moon.  That Full Moon was only a few hours after the autumn equinox, and shifted its usual tone of “sunset” inward feelings into more active and energized feelings.

Many felt it was a most magical period, others felt it was very difficult, some felt a combination of both.   The Full Moon triggered the cardinal t-square of planets this past summer, which added to the intensity.

Of course “relationship” is a common theme being initiated at the autumn equinox, as the Sun then moves into Libra.

And this autumn of 2010,  the theme of relationship will be more important than usual, because soon Venus will turn retrograde in Scorpio.   On October 8, about 8 hours after the Libra New Moon Of October 7, Venus will slow down and shift from direct to retrograde.

Venus turns retrograde approximately every 18 months.  The last time it went retrograde was in March of 2009, in Aries.  Check back to March and April 2009 to see what was going on in your relationships then.  And we are not just talking about romantic relationships during Venus retrograde periods, but relationships of all sorts: friendships, family members, work relationships, etc.

Venus is about our heart’s desires also, and what we feel connected to in our hearts.   Art and aesthetics also fit into this category.   Venus knows how to bring things together in many ways, like colors and patterns of all sorts.

But Venus Retrograde will mainly affect the relationships of your life. Venus goes retrograde in Scorpio, but will spend a few days at the end of the retrograde period in Libra.      As Venus is mainly in Scorpio, we can expect the retrograde period to bring deep and profound insights into our relationships and relationship patterns.

There will be a tendency for our discussions and disagreements to get “down and dirty”.   Whatever has been pushed “under the carpet” of our consciousness, will be swept up into our awareness and perhaps into arguments.    The retrograde period will open up a new passage for our relationships, while at the same time it takes us back into our past.

In fact, during Venus Retrograde periods we can expect memories from the past to come back.  It is quite common during Venus Retrograde for actual people to come back into our lives, perhaps people we have not seen in a while.  For others people will come back merely through dreams or vivid memories.

We can use these “reappearances” to better understand and process the current relationships and relationship patterns in our lives.

You know how often we seem to recycle old patterns from previous relationships- back into our current relationships.   These retrograde reappearances can help put perspective into our current challenges, and can signal that the time is ripe to transform these old dysfunctional patterns into better and more healthy ones.   Relationship counseling may help tremendously.   Astrological evaluations can also be helpful at such times.

Because Venus will be in Scorpio much of this retrograde period, the intensity level of your relationships can be quite high. Primal emotions and jealousies can rear their ugly heads into your lives.   Sexual issues can be in the spotlight also.

Sometimes we meet new people during Venus retrograde.  They may remind us of others or they may begin to point us in new directions. But it is wise to not jump to relationship conclusions too fast during Venus retrograde, as this new relationship may bring in a meaning that we do not understand yet.  It may be there to help us change our perceptions, but not meant to be a permanent fixture in our lives.   But don’t rule out that it is a long-term relatonship either.  Wait at least until Venus goes back direct before making any conclusions.  Marriage is not advised during Venus retrograde as relationships skies are foggy then.

Venus goes back direct again on November 18, and moves back to where it started (13+ degrees of Scorpio) on December 20.  So October 8- December 20 is full circle, and many will not gain full resolution until the end of the cycle.

It may be for some that this period of Venus Retrograde will bring a complete transformation of relationships and relationship patterns.  Some will come to the end of the relationship or the beginning of the end. Others will find a wonderful rebirth or renewal of their relationship. Others will meet someone new who will totally change their lives.    This kind of tranformation is always possible during Venus Retrograde,  most true during Venus Retrograde in Scorpio, as Scorpio is most affilated with intensely transformational planet Pluto.

In the greater world, relationships between nations and cultures will get quite intense. Look especially at the ones that have big problems with one another before the retrograde, as their ability to hold back the tide of erupting emotions and anger will be less during the retrograde period.   Israel/Palestine, Israel/Iran, Israel/Lebanon and Syria will be most dangerous. So will North Korea/South Korea.   The USA may have big problems with Islamic cultures, and republicans and democrats will get even dirtier with one another during the Venus in Scorpio retrograde period, as the elections are on November 2.

Expect this most dysfunctional two-party system to get worse than ever before in their nastiness.    Their war with one another will get worse.

Always remember that in the larger context we are in transition from an old and dying Pisces Age to a new Aquarian Age.   Much of the old dysfunctions in our personal lives or in the greater world are ripe to be released, so we can be aligned with authentic and purposeful lives connected to the Universe and its movement into an Aquarian Age.

This coming ime between now and the New Moon in Libra and Venus retrograde in Scorpio on October 7 and 8 respectively, is a waning lunar cycle.

It is a good time to come down into your soul, into more reflective moments.   Enjoy family and friendship.   “Prepare the ground” for future movement in your life.   Acclimate to the changing of seasons, and get ready for shfting tides after October 7/8.   Then in late October and November and December our lives will erupt into great change again, much of it a triggering of the profound aspects and seeds planted during the Summer of 2010.

I will be off the blog for two weeks, until Saturday October 9.  I will do a new radio show on October 16.

We Don’t Need Another Hero, Autumn Equinox and Astrology Forecast for Sept. 19-25

Posted in Weekly WorldView and Astrology forecast with tags , , , , , , , , , on September 18, 2010 by spiritualtherapy

By Leo Knighton Tallarico

This week we move through one of the  four annual turning points of the year: Autumn Equinox.  This year a Full Moon In Libra/Aries, a few hours after the equinox, adds more meaning to the event than usual.  And the fact that this Full Moon at the equinox touches off the cardinal t-square of the summer, adds even more importance to the event.   And interestingly, winter solstice will also have a Lunar Eclipse Full Moon right on it, making that season much more important than usual.

So big change continues. In fact the aspects of summer 2010 promise that there will be bigger events, related to the summer aspects, to be triggered this autumn and winter.

Autumn equinox is a time of slowing down and beginning the process of going inward and yin-ward.   Darker, colder days have arrived, and then it will continue to get darker every day until the winter solstice. It is time to settle down for the year, metaphorically like sunset time of the day.  Our values begin to change, as we see life more sensitively than the high energies of spring and summer.  We begin to look beyond our selves- to the social and relationship fabric of life.

It is Libra time of year now at this equinox, time to enjoy pleasant weather and the beauty of nature.  We strive for peace and harmony, love is in the air.   But this year we have an Aries Full Moon, only a few hours after the equinox.  More active and willfull energies compete with our usual equinox needs for peace and harmony and reflection.  In the greater world this Equinox signature, which includes the Aries Full Moon, suggests there will be issues of war and peace.

Look at the Middle East especially, but also in Korea and perhaps other places, for this theme to play out this autumn.   Some will be ready to push our world closer to war, while others will concentrate on diplomacy. Iran and the Israel/Palestine issue are sure to be central concerns this Autumn.   As we get into Scorpio time of year, this Middle East drama will get much more dangerous.

Our world is changing fast.   We all need to be aware of what is really going on.  The economy is in not really in recovery.  It is in real trouble. Our country is in real trouble.  We are in need of great transformation, out of an old world and its separating and dyfunctional ways, and into a unified and sane new Aquarian Age.  We cannot get there if we go on with “business as usual”.

We can no longer bury our heads in the sand. We truly are facing great change in our world and lives.

I have been writing about this for many years, how we are moving from a Pisces Age to an Aquarian Age, and how we must learn to expect great change during this transition.

But recently I have been knowing this on a much deeper level. When I look at the old conventional world, I see little worth respecting anymore. People just don’t come together for the benefit of the community. They show little love and respect for one another.

In politics people fight against each other as if they were in a wrestling match, and not even like real wrestling in high school or college, but like professional wrestling. It is a lie and a joke. We hoped leaving the Bush years would help us find our way back to our sanity and values again. But so far not yet.

Obama gave so many hope that real change would happen, that somehow he would bring sanity, decency, and true progress and transformation to our world. I hoped that then the transition out of an old world and into a new Aquarian Age would happen relatively gracefully, because there would be an inspirational leader who was bigger than life, like a Lincoln or M.L. King, who would lead us to the promised land.

The disillusion has been depressing at times. But didn’ we already know: There are no more saviors. That is the passing Pisces Age, begun surrounding the birth of Christ. No great savior/heroes coming our way anymore.

We are the ones we have been waiting for.”

We must now take up the challenge and responsibility for our world, for our Earth, for our human family. Great healing and transformation are coming our way, much of it will not be easy.

But don’t put too much weight on your own shoulders or pressure on your heart and mind.

This is the Aquarian Age. We each need to merely learn our own role. Each of needs to know and express our unique individualized and authentic Self, focus on our own function and purpose, our contribution to the whole community.

As you know your true self, and learn to express it in relationship with others within the greater plan, you have arrived. It may not be easy to get there, but it feels easy when you get there.

And this does not mean you are necessarily a healer or doing some job that ‘helps save the world”. You can be a janitor or homemaker or financial broker. Being your true and authentic self is what counts. It is actualizing and reaching your seed potential within the orchestra of life community.

To get there you must rid your mind and heart of the conditioning by family and culture to fit some kind of mold, to be what you are “supposed” to be, what will make your mom or dad happy, or make your friends or mate happy. It is not marrying an “acceptable” person, or taking a career that is impressive or will bring luxury.

To get to this authentic place, you must leave judgment of your self or others. You will need to leave behind notions of superior people and inferior people, of privilege and undeserving. You will need to let go of fear that runs your life, guilt which helps you to “be a good person”.

If you are trying to live up to something, you have left your Self. If you fear being a bad person and going to hell, you are already there. If you believe there is a way everyone should be, you will never be your true Self.

Fear that is not about real danger precludes entry into an Aquarian Age consciousness. We are taught fear so we will not leave the safe confines of a controlling ego. Our ego fears our true Self, because our true Self is free- free mind, free heart, and free soul. This freedom threatens our connection to the ego-driven conventional world and its fear based paradigm.

This paradigm teaches us that we must obey the rules of the cultural game or we will go to hell or jail or a mental institution or into poverty. So we then, out of fear, become what we should be or need to be- to fit in and survive.

So when we go through the storms of transformation, when the walls of our old world and old ego start to crumble, we come to a crossroads.

For instance, let’s say a serious relationship ends, through a separation like a break up or divorce. After a while you recognize that you had been giving your self away in that relationship.

You tried to be the kind of person or mate you were brought up to be or who your mate expected you to be. You always wanted instead to be loved for who you really are. Perhaps you have been feeling this need to be loved for your Self since childhood.

Now the breakup is the turning point. Some leave the old relationship and go through a huge awakening. They want to find their true Self now- want to love their Self now. They begin the shed the skins of false ego self, and to dig deeper in their heart and soul. They find books and healers and classes that bring them through a healing crisis and through dramatic transformational change.

They know their old relationship ending was meaningful and part of their sacred soul’s journey into a new season of life. They have moved closer to their authentic Self and its connection to the Universe and the movement into an Aquarian Age.

Others, at the end of the relationship, instead blame their self or the other person or fate for the breakup of the relationship. They do not go through any deep new realizations, do not see any real reason to change. They end up finding another relationship that ends up being the same dramas and dyfunctional patterns as the last one.

Their old fears and ego take over again. They become trapped again in the old world and its rules for how one should be and live their life.

They did not see that what happened at their relationship breakup was meaningful, was a potential doorway into a new phase or season for their life, an opportunity. They fall back into the ruts of their programming from family and society, that keeps them chained to a false ego and life.

In the Greater World

As the old world continues to fall apart, we hope it will break down its old ways and reconnect with heart, soul, and open mind. That way we will find more sanity again, better choices and answers to old problems. The old paradigm must be broken as the walls of the old world come down.

But it is a stubborn old world, just as we individually can be quite stubborn before we decide to truly change.

The oil rig blew up in the gulf this year and brought about the biggest oil spill ever, destroying wild life and eco-sytems and the balance of nature, and people’s livelihoods and lives. Do we come out of that disaster with a a commitment to stop drilling or a commitment to urgently integrate into our lives new alternative energy sources? Do we learn to use more controls over corporations? Did we even go deeper in our thinking and realize occupying other countries and wars are often in modern times, in large part because of needs for oil?

Do we go through deep change and healing and transformation around this most important issue for our evolution and survival on the Earth, or do we go back to business as usual?

It appears we are going back to business as usual. This means we will go through more horrible events until we learn. And because we are in transition between ages, the Universe will be relentless with its challenges.

And no- Obama was not the great savior hope of humanity. But perhaps he will still be the doorway into our best and authentic Selves, so this world, not just the USA, can be “of the people, by the people, and for the people”.

It is getting more and more obvious to me that our collective wake-up calls will get louder and louder now. By mid to late autumn at the latest, we will experience great changes that were promised at the big events of Summer of 2010, the Lunar Ecipse Grand Cross, the Cardinal T-square, Saturn square Pluto and other big aspects.

We are in for bigger shake-ups to help us release old ways and bring us forward into a new Aquarian Age.

In your own life, as you face new challenges, remember your life is meaningful and you are on a sacred soul’s journey. Events that happen in your life, even those that may at first seem so devastating; they are meant to help you to move out of old rigid ego forms and dyfunctional life patterns, and into your true and authentic Self. That Self is a purpose-driven Self, connected to all other Selves in greater community, within a meaningful and sacred Universe, on its way to an Aquarian Age.

Increasing Emotions- Astrology Forecast for September 12-18

Posted in Weekly WorldView and Astrology forecast with tags , , , , , , , , , , on September 11, 2010 by spiritualtherapy

by Leo Knighton Tallarico

We are shifting out of the summer of 2010 and its grand astrological aspects, and moving  slowly downward into the beginning of autumn.

This weekend Mercury goes back direct on Sunday, a day after the 9th anniversary of the attacks on 9-11, 2001.   With all the furor over Koran burnings and the building of a mosque near the site of the 9-11 attacks, it is synchronistic that a very holy Islamic Ramadan ends around the same time.   And Jewish New Year has just begun.

The Universe is delivering to us signs, symbols, and messages alerting us to the crisis unfolding between religious cultures.

A few weeks ago, on the day of Saturn square Pluto, just after Mercury went retrograde, a new nuclear plant was being inuagurated in Iran, assisted by Russia.   In the days leading up to this event, many political experts were stating their opinion of the danger to the world because of this nuclear plant opening.    They said it could be used to produce plutonium, which could be used for a nuclear bomb.  They said Israel might bomb that facility before its opening, as bombing it afterwards would cause a large radioactive fallout disaster.

Israel did not bomb the facility, and instead that weekend the USA announced plans to hold peace talks between the Israelis and Palestinians.  If they can push through a success with these peace talks, they believe they can take away power from Iran.  They believe this because it is known that Islamic hatred toward the USA, Israel, and the western world is in large part because of the injustices perpetrated against the Palestinians.

It is obvious to many that the occupation of Islamic countries by the USA, and the oppression of the Palestinians by Israel have been reasons for hatred toward America and were primary causes of terrorist attacks including the 9-11 attack.  Much of Iran’s following in the world by Islamic people is because it has championed the Palestinian cause.  If there was peace and a Palestinain state that popularity would be diminished.

Make no mistake, what happens in the Middle East now is most important.   During this summer of 2010 and its important astrological aspects, the Middle East has been simmering and getting hotter.  If no peace accord comes to Israel and Palestine, then war will be certain, likely world war.  And there will be great attempts by extremists on both sides to overthrow the talks.  Suicide bombings and settlement building would threaten these peace talks and could end them.

The USA has a history of great favoritism for Israel at the expense of the Palestinians. This perception has also been a big factor in generating hatred against the USA.    A peace accord and a state for the Palestinians might take some of that hatred away, if the accord is perceived as fair and respectful to Islam.

Roots of Christianity, Islam and Judaism are in the Middle East and specifically in Jerusalem.   The Pisces Age, which has been an age of the growth of organized religion and empires, is coming to an end as we enter the Aquarian Age.   What happens surrounding events in the Middle East is of great importance to this transition.  Keep a close eye on what happens there.

What happens in the economy is also crucial now, as the recovery that was predicted has at least slowed and perhaps there is no recovery at all.   Events resulting from the summer’s intense aspects are on the way soon, that will tell us what direction this economy is going in.

Of course the oil spill this summer also let us know more about the world we live in, and our addiction to oil which threatens to destroy oceans, wildlife and our relationship with Mother Nature. It also threatens us with more potential occupations and wars as we desperately steal from others to feed our addiction.     And the hatred from Islamic countries grows even stronger.  We need a vision and commitment to alternative sources of energy NOW.

Astrology Report

There is a downward pull now as we move close to the Autumn Equinox, when night and day will be equal. Unlike the spring equinox, when light then begins to increase, right after autumn equinox we turn more toward greater darkness, more yin energy.   The autumn equinox will be on September 22.  Interestingly, 5+ hours later there will be a Full Moon in Aries, triggering the cardinal t-square formation of this passing summer.

Intense emotions are coming to the surface and being expressed.  Jupiter and Uranus have left Aries and have both moved retrograde into emotional Pisces.  They will be conjunct in Pisces next Saturday September 18.  They are already stirring deep emotions.

To add to the emotional stirrings and yin-ward movements, Pluto is slowing down now and permeating the emotional planes with deep intense feelings and passions.  It goes from retrograde to direct overnight this Monday into Tuesday. Whenever a planet changes directions, its energies enter our awareness in stronger ways.  To add to the intensity, Venus will be in Scorpio all week and will be joined by Mars entering Scorpio on Tuesday this week, just after Pluto goes direct.

So expect this week to be intense and emotional.  There could be a powerful transformation for some, as intensities bring out strong emotions that were previously suppressed.  These expressions release stored energies, and bring issues to a crisis point. From there is a catharsis and a changing of attitudes.    Relationships can go through the beginning of healing and transformation. This would only be the beginning, as Venus will go retrograde in Scorpio on October 8, initiating a 6 week relationship changing journey.

We will talk more about that as get closer to the date

We are also in Virgo time of year and just began a Virgo lunar cycle at the New Moon in Virgo last Wednesday September 8. So while all these emotions are flowing, it is also time to get your life in order, simplify and make more efficient. Virgo time is the time to go back to school, to work harder, to fix and heal what need to be fixed and healed.

Mercury Direct

Most importantly, Mercury goes back direct to begin this week, on Sunday September 12 at 7:09 PM.  As it changes directions, we change our perceptions again.   Sometimes the changing tides of perception can be dramatic.  On presidential election day on November 7 of 2000, when Gore was competing with Bush for president of the USA, Mercury was going from retrograde to direct that night.  The media kept going back and forth between predicting Gore , then Bush, then Gore, etc.  It took many days afterward before Bush was declared the winner.  That is how confusing Mercury changing directions can be.

But overall, as Mercury goes back direct this Sunday, issues are getting more clear, and if in some cases they still are unclear as Mercury goes direct, wait a few days more to gain the clarity and direction you need.

Overall, we are going down into our inner dimensions more now, our deeper soul, our feelings and emotions.  These feelings and emotions can get out of control for some, so be aware.

“See” you next week,

Saying Goodbyes and Astrology Forecast for September 5-11

Posted in Weekly WorldView and Astrology forecast with tags , , , , , on September 4, 2010 by spiritualtherapy

by Leo Knighton Tallarico

This week we begin to say goodbyes.  We say goodbye to the summer, which often feels like the end after Labor Day, though it does not officially end until September 22.   We also say goodbye to the Cardinal T-square and Grand Cross Eclipse from the Summer of 2010.  It has been a most intense and transformational summer of our lives.

For the next few days we also experience the end of a lunar cycle.   That lunar cycle began with a Leo New Moon on August 9.   Later this week, on Wednesday, September 8, we begin a new lunar cycle with a New Moon in Virgo.  That lunar cycle will bring us down into the yin energies of autumn.

And of course we are still in the mentally reflective cycle of Mercury Retrograde until next Sunday September 12.

So you can say your goodbyes now, release what needs to be released, clean up or fix what nees to be cleaned up or fixed- before we experience the appearance of events that result from the energy shifts of the Summer of 2010.  These events will result from planetary triggers that come up this autumn and winter.

The most obvious triggers are the Full Moon in Libra/Aries on the autumn equinox, which triggers the Cardinal T-Square of the summer of 2010; and the Lunar Eclipse on the Winter Solstice of 2010, which most powerfully triggers the T-Square and Grand Cross of the summer of 2010.

Triggers are planetary movements, subsequent to original astrological formations, which touch off the same places in the zodiac.   This is often when, in individual lives or in the greater world, that big events that change our lives occur.

Since both of these triggering aspects happen on an equinox or solstice, they also provide a “signature” for the season they each represent. As an example, on the Summer Solstice of 2001 there was a Solar Eclipse.    The attack on the twin towers happened during that summer of 2001.

Winter 2010 promises to be very intense and eventful, both because it has an eclipse on that day, and because it triggers the aspects from the summer of 2010.   Issues that were forming in the Summer of 2010, that were not resolved, will come back to the surface of our consciousness and lives in the form of events that bring change.

In the greater world there will be an election in November that will likely shift the political dynamics in the USA.    Democrats have held a huge majority in both the Senate and the House.  This will likely shift appreciably after the election, as polls show incumbents are in danger of losing their seats.    This is partly because the economy has not really improved, but also because our two party system has become a big joke.

Many have become quite disillusioned with both democrats and republicans, who spend much more energy and time with petty bickering and selfish concerns than with what is best for our American and world community. They are obviously bought out by big corporations and other special interest groups.    Big Government and Big Corporation and Big Military and Big Media have squeezed the voice of the people out of the decisions for our own lives and world.

President Obama has been a large disappointment to progressives who voted for him because they hoped he would truly help to transform our country beyond the control of the Military/Economic complex.  The people on the right would have hated him no matter what he did.  They have made up stories of his being a Muslim or not being born in this country. They ridiculously accuse him of being a socialist, even though he never even pushed for a public option in his Health Care Reform.  The average person is disappointed because they see a weak economy that is not improving.

Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin and the Tea Party movement have been gaining much popularity as a result of the troubles in our economy, and the ineptness and lack of true conviction and leadership by Obama and the democrats.

In the bigger picture there are events coming our way soon that will radically transform our world and shake up the political system and all our other institutions in a huge way.   Our country is in decay and will need these big events in order to find our soul again.   Our place in the world community will change as a result also, as we will no longer be a superpower dominator, and instead will be an equal member within an international community.

Begin to say goodbye to that old America, one that has lost its way.   We need to come together as one American family.   And from that point join in community with other peoples all over the world.  We are entering an Aquarian Age of equality, of Diversity in Unity.  There is much to clear out and release from the old ways that no longer work and are not in alignment with the New Age upon us.

Coming events will assist us in that process and will be very challenging.

In your own life, remember that events that bring change into lives and threaten our sense of security are often opportunites for positive transformation- in disguise.

That dysfunctional relationship you are addicted to, is not aligned with your authentic self.     That job you have lost or fear losing does not give you a true sense of purpose.  You can now find something more in line with who you really are.   The changes bring more spirit into your life and help you to better connect with your heart and soul.

This week ahead

Sunday through Tuesday bring us a waning moon and more “down” time.  This is especailly so on Tuesday, which is a “dark moon” time before the new moon on Wednesday.  With Mercury also retrograde during that time, and feeling the end of summer, it is not a time of great expectations or forward movements.  It is more a time to go inward, to contemplate, to plan, to make intention, to plant mental seeds for future growth.

On Wednesday September 8 at 6:30 AM Eastern time there is a New Moon in Virgo at 15+ degrees.    Also on Wednesday Venus moves into passionate Scorpio.   Energies intensify and we desire to get moving forward.  Since it is Virgo time of year and Virgo energies are being sparked at this new moon, it is a good time to simplify your life, to heal and fix what need to be healed and fixed.  Virgo seeks purity and perfection and in that process is very discriminating and sometimes downright critical.   For them things need to be fixed into perfect order, and that is why Virgos can be so critical and perfectionistic.

Jupiter leaves cardinal sign Aries to go back while retrograde into Pisces- on Thursday. This finally breaks up the cardinal t-square. Jupiter will not return to Aries again until early in 2011.

Mercury leaves retrograde to go direct on Sunday September 12.   Issues will gain more clarity and you will have more of a sense of direction after that.

See you next week,

Leo Knighton Tallarico
